Get to know your wild neighbors! National Wildlife Federation has partnered with other outdoor-friendly organizations on a cool art contest that will showcase your family’s appreciation for nature and help you to Be Out There.

For 10 years, naturalist and painter Robert Bateman has led the Get To Know Contest designed to help students engage with nature, wildlife, and their surroundings.

This year’s theme? Forests! Read more at www.gettoknow.ca/us/contest/.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, national forests encompass 747 million acres in our country alone!

The contest invites youth to go outside and “get to know” the beautiful public lands and wildlife available to us.  By spending time outdoors, young Americans can be inspired to express themselves creatively and learn to care for the environment through art, writing, and photography.

NWF’s online tool Nature Find will help you get outdoors to find your inspiration. Discover your own creative ability in your backyard, neighborhood parks, and, in keeping with this year’s theme, national forests.
